Fire breaks out in Historic Powhatan Resort Timeshare

JAMES CITY COUNTY — The James City County Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at Historic Powhatan Resort Timeshare, 3601 Ironbound Rd, on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Units arrived on the scene at 10:41 a.m. to find a two-story unit on fire.

The whole building was unoccupied due to construction being done on the back of the building. There were no injuries.

An investigation determined that the fire began when construction crews were doing maintenance repair work and sparks from a piece of equipment ignited the building.

With assistance from the Williamsburg Fire Department and the York County Department of Fire and Life Safety, the fire was under control at 11:16 a.m.
