Local resident participates in production of popular musical

BOSTON, Mass. — This spring, a Toano-native is slated to appear in Emerson College’s spring production of Steve Sater and Duncan Sheik’s hit musical, Spring Awakening.

On Thursday, April 29, the college announced that Angela Mantel, a Historic Triangle native, participated in this production, which ran April 15-18, 2021.

As the last production in Emerson College’s 2020-2021 transmedia theater season, Spring Awakening, based on Frank Wedekind’s play, depicts a group of young people navigating the thrills and complications that come along with one’s sexual awakening.

In Emerson College’s production, directed by Diane DiCroce with musical direction by Sariva Goetz, Ms. Mantel is credit as Lighting Designer.

Angela Mantel is pursuing a degree in Design/Technology from the college and is a member of the graduating class of 2021.
