Jamestown High grad wins “gold star” at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. — One student is getting recognized for their academic achievements.

Tucker Young was recently awarded gold star, along with more than 650 cadets and students for the Fall 2020 semester at The Citadel.

Young is from Williamsburg and a Jamestown High School graduate.

“Recognizing the academic successes of Citadel cadets and students is a special tradition each semester, even during the temporary period of social distancing,”  The Citadel noted. “Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students who have earned a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher.”

In addition, Young also receive another recognition: Being placed on The Citadel’s dean’s list.

The Citadel is a public university based in Charleston, S.C. and offers its students “a classic military college education” with “rigorous academic programs” focused on leadership.
