WILLIAMSBURG — States around the country are increasingly taking the lead on flooding and resilience. In light of the recent activity, innovation, and demand for guidance in this topic area, the Virginia Coastal Policy Center (VCPC) at William & Mary Law School has joined the newly launched State Resilience Partnership.
This partnership brings together a network of 15 organizations — convened by the American Flood Coalition and The Pew Charitable Trusts — united by a commitment to support state leaders as they craft resilience strategies. These organizations — representing environmental groups, academic and research organizations, businesses, local leaders, and more — will work to fill knowledge gaps and support state leaders as they answer key questions about state resilience.
“We are excited to join this impressive coalition of organizations to provide states with expertise on flood resilience issues,” said Elizabeth Andrews, Professor of the Practice of Law and VCPC Director. “We look forward to working with these partners to develop best practices and provide forward-looking research to address the increasing impacts of flooding faced by communities across the country.”
In addition to the Virginia Coastal Policy Center, partnership members include:
- Alliance for National and Community Resilience
- American Flood Coalition
- Center for Disaster Philanthropy

- International Code Council
