BETHEL HOUSING — Authorities are investigating a stabbing at the one of the off-base military housing communities, which occurred on the morning of Monday, April 26.
At approximately 4:31 a.m. deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO) responded to a stabbing incident at the Landings at Langley in the Bethel Housing complex, said Shelley Ward, spokesperson for the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office. The Bethel Housing complex is located off-base along Big Bethel Road in York County.
“This was an isolated incident that is still be investigated,” Ward said.
Brenda Christman, spokesperson for Hunt Military Communities, which manages the military housing for Langley, referred inquiries related to the incident to Maj. Matthew Chism, Joint Base Langley-Eustis public affairs officer.
After an initial inquiry, WYDaily has not yet heard back from Maj. Chism.
Since 2016, there have a been a string of larceny incidents including credit card theft, motor vehicle theft and burglaries.
Prior to this stabbing incident, the last aggravated assault incidents reported occurred in 2018.

In June 2018, a 16-year-old Newport News resident was arrested for the March 13, 2018 shooting of a 14-year-old on Eagle Loop in the off-base housing complex. Police later reported that the victim was “involved in illegal activity” at the time of the shooting.
