BUSCH GARDENS — The Busch Gardens Food and Wine Festival is underway. The much anticipated event returned on April 2 and is continuing on through May 23.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, last year’s festival was canceled. To supplement, Busch Gardens Williamsburg (BGW) held Coasters and Craft Brews last September, a limited-capacity event that showcased only a portion of the usual offerings for the Food and Wine Festival.
This year’s Food and Wine Festival is making up for lost time.
Kevin Lembke, president of Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA, said that since the warmer weather returned, the park has seen a steady increase in guests, There was a particular increase during spring break.
“As we got into spring break, we continued to make adjustments to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment were not at risk,” he said. “We are really excited to welcome people back after taking a year off.”

For the Food and Wine Festival, the entire park has opened its gates for guests to explore 11 specialty food and beverage areas and over 100 international tastes, wines, brews and cocktails.
“The biggest thing guests can expect this year is new offerings,” said Lembke. He added that his favorite thing about the festival is being able to walk around and experience food options normally not served at the park.
Aside from delicious food and quench-satisfying drinks, there are loads of local performers entertaining guests throughout the festival. Some performers include Audacity Brass Band, Martha Spencer, Carrington Kay, Cissa Paz, and Gary Garlic.
While park capacity will continue to be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, numerous attractions, roller coasters, restaurants and shops will be open throughout the European-themed park — with physical distancing. To see operational changes and safety guidelines, click here.
