YORKTOWN — Virginia’s National Flag Football kicks off their Spring Flag Football season on April 18.
The program is for first-time players who want to learn the fundamentals of football and for more experienced players to hone their skills before going on to play tackle football.
Teams are limited to around 10-11 players, and each player will receive an NFL reversible jersey and flag belt to keep.
No tryouts will be held for the program. Anyone who registers will be able to participate. You can sign up here.
“PreK – 3rd Grade divisions (Lombardi and Shula) will receive individual participation awards at the end of the season. Madden divisions (4th – 8th grade) will participate in playoff games on the last day of the season,” the news release said.
Younger divisions will typically play earlier in the day and the older division playing later, with practices taking place one hour before the games each week. Schedules will be posted one to two weeks before the start of the season.
The 7-practice/6-game season for the young players will be held on Sundays in a 5 vs. 5, non-contact, recreational co-ed format, according to the news release. According to the news release, games will take place between noon and 7 p.m. on Sunday afternoons, with times subject to change.
The season runs until June 6.
Limited spaces are available for late registration, along with a $25 late fee. A $10 shipping charge will be added to registrations that take place within two weeks of the start of the season, according to the news release.
Parents who wish to volunteer to coach can do so during the registration process.
