RICHMOND — William & Mary senior Erin Dailey was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announcement on Monday.
“Erin is the iron woman of the midfield and very deserving of this honor,” head coach Julie Shackford said. “She leaves no play unturned and battles from start to finish! Her work rate and heart are unparalleled.”
Dailey earned the league’s top weekly honor after accounting for both Tribe goals in a 2-2 draw at James Madison on Sunday. The Wall, N.J., native produced her first career game with a goal and an assist.
In the 69th minute, she turned over JMU in the midfield and fed junior Caroline Monahan free into the right side of the penalty area, resulting in the game’s first goal. Dailey scored her second career goal in the 82nd minute, making a run through the area and punching home a cross from junior Renee Kohler from six yards out to give the Tribe a 2-0 lead.
The honor is the second this season for the Tribe. Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Doughty was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on March 15 after making eight saves in a scoreless draw at Charleston.
The Tribe wraps up the regular season hosting Elon on Saturday, April 10. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Dillard Complex.
