WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary Athletics Department has announced that it will maintain its current attendance policies for all remaining athletics events.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam recently revised Executive Order 72, which would allow for increased capacities at selected outdoor venues starting April 1st.
“The university rightfully remains focused on successfully completing the spring semester with our students,” said Interim Director of Athletics, Jeremy Martin. “William & Mary has been among the national leaders of universities successfully learning in residence amid the pandemic. As temperatures have warmed in recent weeks, we’ve also seen case numbers rise among our student body. To welcome thousands of fans to a football game or track meet in iconic Zable Stadium in the center of our campus is to invite fans to traverse all corners of our beautiful campus, creating interactions and potential transmissions that we simply cannot allow.”
There remain no tickets available for public sale to any William & Mary Athletics events; only individuals on the William & Mary student-athletes player pass list and a limited amount of William & Mary students will be admitted to any athletics event. No visiting team pass list will be available.
William & Mary Athletics will continue its collaboration with the university, including the Student Assembly, as it makes decisions on making the best use of the available attendance opportunities.
