YORKTOWN — When visitors and residents spot the iconic blue trolleys on the streets of Yorktown, they know that warm weather is quickly approaching.
On Friday, March 26, the free trolleys are returning to the riverfront for the 2021 season.
Gail Whittaker, York County spokeswoman wrote in an email on March 17 that the return coincides with the beginning of Yorktown’s events season.
The trolley is free and runs daily unless otherwise noted. See the 2021 schedule below:
- March 26 to May 27: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- May 28 to Sept. 6: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Sept. 7 to Nov. 21: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Nov. 26 to Dec. 19 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday only): 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Due to limited parking at the riverfront, the ADA-accessible trolleys provide a way for riders to visit the shops, restaurants, sites, and events throughout the waterfront district without the hassle of searching for places to park.
Riders can download the app, SPOT ETA, to view approximate wait times for each stop.
The trolleys take 20-25 minutes to make a round trip between the Yorktown Battlefield Visitors Center and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.
“Friendly drivers offer helpful information so riders can focus on the scenery, the history, ad where they want to have their next meal,” wrote Whittaker.
