The Williamsburg Police Department responded to “reports of a gunshot victim” across from New Town on Monday morning.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Ironbound Road at approximately 10 a.m., authorities said.

“The initial investigation revealed that the gunshot injury was self-inflicted,” WPD spokesman Charles Ericsson wrote in an email on Monday at 12:03 p.m. “The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center by LifeEvac.”

“The extent of the injury is unknown,” he added.

When asked what was located at the property off Ironbound Road, Ericsson wrote the location used to have a house “but the house has been torn down.”
