The coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on society — shuttering businesses, isolating families and triggering food shortages.
For those needing a distraction, this class might help.
James City County Parks & Recreation is hosting a series of drumming and meditation events for residents.
Registration costs $35 and the workshop is open for those age 12 and older. You can sign up here.
“Our new Drumming for Wellness workshop uses drums and voices to practice mindfulness through basic drumming and meditation techniques,” according to a Feb. 11 JCC Parks & Recreation Facebook post.
Participants can drum along, become immersed in the sounds and join in drum circles.
Drumming for Wellness will take place at Freedom Park, 5537 Centerville Road on Mondays starting March 15 to April 5 from 6-7 p.m.
No musical experience is required and instruments are provided.
