Check out guided tours, holidays programs for winter months at these museums

Those feeling a little stir crazy around the holidays can check out some local history sites instead.

The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation announced winter programs at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown including virtual learning activities and guided tours on site with social distancing measures in place, according to the nonprofit organization’s news release.

The on-site guided tours and “in-person enrichment” programs at Jamestown Settlement are Monday and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

American Revolution Museum at Yorktown’s guided on site tours and programs are on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Christmastide in Virginia

Dates: Dec. 19-31

  • Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown are celebrating the holidays with 17th and 18th century traditions with music, reenactments and other entertainment.

Digital Explorers

Dates: Dec. 14 through Feb. 14

  • Families can check out this winter, history camp with educational programs all from the comfort of their home, courtesy of the Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.
  • Each museum kit costs $45 or you can get both kits for $72. 

The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and Jamestown Settlement museums’ indoor exhibits are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the outdoor exhibits are open every day from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Both museums are closed on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
