Run (or walk) in the new year with this virtual event

Is your New Years resolution to exercise more, get in shape or lose weight? You might want to check out this event.

James City County Parks and Recreation is hosting a virtual 5K starting Jan. 16.

“Complete your 3.1-mile run or walk between Saturday, Jan. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 20, and submit your results online,” according to the department’s Facebook post. “Do it anywhere, anytime, with anyone—or alone!”

The event is open to the public and registration costs $15 before Jan. 2. You can sign up for the event here.

Attendees get a commemorative medal and a t-shirt. Those who walk or run virtually at a county park or trail can submit a photo online for an extra raffle entry too.

“It’s time to put 2020 in the past and HIT THE RESET!,” according to the event’s flyer.” We are racing into 2021 with positive resolutions–let’s move in a forward together!”

Hit the Reset Virtual 5K Run/Walk starts Saturday, Jan. 16 to Saturday, Feb. 20.

Registration fees increases to $20 per person after Jan. 1 and then $25 if you register after Feb. 1. The deadline to register is Feb. 18 at 10 p.m.
