If you plan on taking public transportation around the holidays in the Historic Triangle, keep reading.
The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority is operating on their winter holiday schedule this week and through the New Year.
WATA will be closed on both Dec. 25 (Christmas Day) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) for service. As a reminder, the public transportation service stopped collecting passenger fares at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The following is the schedule for upcoming holidays,” according to WATA’s Facebook post on Dec. 17. “Please plan your trips accordingly.”

Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve)
- Open starting from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Dec. 25 (Christmas Day)
- Closed the entire day.
Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve)
- Open starting from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Jan. 1, 2021 (New Year’s Day)
- Closed the entire day.
