State trooper’s cruiser struck in York County

A Virginia State Police cruiser was struck by a Jeep Cherokee on Thursday morning while the trooper assisted with a crash investigation.

The crash happened at 8:14 a.m. on Route 199/eastbound at Mooretown Road in York County. The driver of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, Katrina Longest, lost control of the vehicle causing it to spin out, striking the bridge overpass and into the rear of the state troopers vehicle, state police Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

There were no injuries.

Longest was charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain proper control and defective equipment (bald rear tires), Anaya said.
