The tournament must go on ——even in the middle of a pandemic.
Kingsmill Resort and the Ladies Professional Golf Association announced on Tuesday the LPGA Pure Silk Championship is still a go for next year.
The annual spring tournament is May 17-23.
“Kingsmill Resort is honored and incredibly excited to once again partner with the LPGA Tour as we announce the extension of a 38-year-old tradition of professional golf being played at Kingsmill Resort,” said Joel Paige, chief operating officer, in a prepared statement. “As the world of sports questions their future schedules, we are fortunate to remain on the LPGA tour calendar and welcome the return of the best players in the world to Kingsmill Resort to challenge the famed River Course in front of a world-wide TV audience.”
It is not clear if spectators will be allowed for the tournament and the decision will be announced closer to the event date, according to the news release.
The 2020 tournament at Kingsmill was canceled because of the pandemic.
