Deborah S. Goodwin, Esq. is an associate attorney working at the Akers & Cleator Law Group here in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Mrs. Goodwin has set a standard for her practice at immeasurable heights and has a compassion for her clients that is rare to find. She is under 30 years young and has accomplished more in her education, career, and personal life than many could ever dream.
Mrs. Goodwin received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from William & Mary and her Juris Doctorate from Marshall-Wythe School of Law. She passed the Virginia Bar and became a licensed attorney in 2019. With humble beginnings, Mrs. Goodwin will never flaunt her humanitarian, educational, personal, or career accomplishments, but we will.
Mrs. Goodwin was born and raised in New Kent, Virginia and is very much a country woman. She married her high school sweetheart and has recently added a sweet and adorable rescue dog, named King, to her family.
Despite being busy helping her clients and having a family, Mrs. Goodwin is very involved in her church, community, and other humanitarian ventures. She is a Worship Director at her church, and a team leader of Bridge Builders through Life Church. Mrs. Goodwin is on the Board of Directors for Wings of Refuge, Inc., and a Member of Williamsburg A-Team (a local chapter of A21 organization).
Mrs. Goodwin also mentors with the William & Mary Law School’s Black Law Students Association and is a member of the Greater Peninsula Women’s Bar Association.
Mrs. Goodwin blazed through law school and was published in the William & Mary Law Journal of Race, Gender & Social Justice; Volume 25, Issue 2 (2019) for her piece, “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Shorter: An Analysis of Lenient Sentencing for Female Sex Offenders in the United States”. Most recently, despite everything 2020 has thrown at the world, Mrs. Goodwin was awarded The Marquis Who’s Who in America Among Female Lawyers in America.
