Man shot during convenience store robbery in York County

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said a man was shot during a convenience store robbery in York County Wednesday night.

The man was taken to a local hospital. Information on his condition was not immediately released.

Authorities said sheriff’s deputies were called out to a report of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven in the 8600 Block of George Washington Memorial Highway at 10:08 p.m. Wednesday.

On the way there, deputies received information that there was one victim inside the store with a gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation indicated two suspects, one armed with a handgun, went in the store and demanded money from the clerk.

Authorities did not immediately release further details on the incident, citing an open investigation.
