Remember the Econo Lodge off Second Street? It is no more. In its place is Willow Creek Apartments, a new affordable housing complex on Parkway Drive.
And they are now open for applicants, too.
The complex is owned by Bajrang Inc., who decided to repurpose the lodge into flexible, long-term housing.
Pre-leasing began in July, with apartments ready for move-in during the first week of August, according to Willow Creek’s Facebook page.
Willow Creek has studio and one bedroom apartments available, with rent ranging between $800-1,090.
AJ Patel, a member of the leadership team at Willow Creek, said they currently have several units on each floor available.
“We are a half mile away from the historic area and main drag,” Patel said. “We also have plenty of green space which provides plenty of privacy.”
The complex has one bedroom and studio units available and offers three different floor plans for studios.
Amenities include stainless steel appliances. pool, laundry facilities, and a business lounge with computers and a printer. Units are equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, hardwood-style floors and individual heating and cooling.
Some units are also wheelchair accessible.
Willow Creek is also pet friendly. Patel said the initial pet fee and rent depends on the weight of the pet.
While Willow Creek is offering affordable rent for the Williamsburg area, the complex is not yet open to Section 8.
Patel said they are still reviewing the paperwork to be eligible for Section 8 housing.
He added there will also be a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 23 from noon-2 p.m. to commemorate the opening of Willow Creek, though some residents are already moved in.
Those interested can apply by visiting the Willow Creek Apartments website. Applications are $50 per person.
