The James City County Police is asking the public for help in finding a man missing since Aug. 11.

He’s 57-year-old Gregoire Alan Welty.

Welty used to live in James City County but had recently leased an apartment in Williamsburg, police said.

Police said the Charles City County Sheriff’s Office reached out to James City County authorities regarding a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta belonging to Welty found on Roxbury Road, an abandoned road, in Charles City County.

The keys to the vehicle and Welty’s wallet were inside of the vehicle, police said.

Welty’s last known communication was via telephone on Aug. 11. Authorities did not elaborate, but said attempts to locate Welty at both of his addresses have been unsuccessful.

Welty is considered “missing endangered,” but not a danger to the public, police said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on Welty’s whereabouts to call the James City County Police Department at 757-253-1800.
