The Brass Tap Williamsburg is finally opening in New Town.
The craft beer franchise location opens July 22.
“I really think this is a good spot,” said Franklin Herring, the franchise owner. “I really think it’s going to be great for the community.”
The retired Army veteran said the opening was delayed for months because the bank dropped a loan and he had to scramble to find a new one and now, the coronavirus.
“It’s taken from January til now to get the place built,” he said. “Everything is good, everything is paid for, it’s mostly paperwork.”
Since the pandemic is still present in the community, Herring plans to add some protocols to the pub like social distancing rules, mask usage, reduced table seating indoors and other safety measures.
Herring said they will follow the local health department requirements.
Another added health precaution: all beverages will be in disposable cups and food in to-go containers.
He also plans to offer outdoor patio seating.
Customers can expect dozens of local brews on tap ––about 60 to be exact–– plus 150 canned or bottled beers. Thirty-five of those beers will be local.
Besides beers, people can buy mixed drinks, wine and bourbon as well as bar food items including salads and tacos, all made to order.
The “living room style” venue will have twelve 65-inch TVs, a projector for music performances and karaoke.
There will also be trivia nights on a weekly basis.
“It will be a happening little place,” he said. “If you’re bored one night, this will be the place to go.”
The Brass Tap location was supposed to open in the fall of last year and Herring has been paying $7,500 a month since.
“I know I was supposed to be open a year ago and I sure wish I was,” he added. “COVID-19 is still here but we made this happen through the pandemic.”
The Brass Tap Williamsburg, 4904 Courthouse St., in New Town will open on Wednesday, July 22. Hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
