Virginia entered Phase 1 reopening last Friday and some localities are updating their previously scheduled events.
York County announced Wednesday that several annual events are returning in the summer months, including Yorktown Days at Riverwalk Landing, the Sounds of Summer Concert Series and the Blues, Brews & BBQ festival.
But all events sponsored by the county are tentative due to the coronavirus.
- Yorktown Market Days- opens Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at Riverwalk Landing. Drive-thru pre-orders at the McReynolds Athletic Complex continue through June 6.
- Pirate Invasion Market: Saturday, Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Event is free save for the Pirate Adventure Cruises. You can buy a cruise ticket here.
- Go Green Market- Saturday, Sept. 12 starts at 8 a.m. For more information, call 757-890-5900.
- Sister Cities French Market: Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Riverwalk Landing. For more information, call 757-877-2933.
- Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival- Sunday, Aug. 9. Wine is included with admission. For more information, call 757-877-2933.
- Sounds of Summer Concert Series- starts July 9 and runs through August 27 on Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

While some events have been rescheduled or postponed to later days some have been canceled such as the 1775 Yorktown Muster scheduled for June 6, Yorktown’s Military Appreciation Weekend on June 13-14 and the annual July 4 fireworks and parade.
“While public restrictions on large gatherings may very well be relaxed before July 4, financial commitments needed for these events must be made far in advance,” according to the news release from the county. “The savings to the County budget is very important and necessary at this time.”
Riverwalk Landing is currently open for walking, biking and jogging with social distancing measures. Boaters, those picking up food orders and exercising can use the pier. Yorktown Fishing Pier is open to 10 people at a time with social distancing measures, but Yorktown Beach remains closed.
“Many Riverwalk Landing businesses are also slowly beginning to unlock their doors as well—each with enhanced health and safety measures for employees and customers,” according to the news release. “In addition to new takeout and patio dining options for restaurants, outdoor recreation rentals have begun as well, including paddle board, bicycle, and kayak rentals.”
