The Hampton Commission on the Arts launched The HeART of Hampton, a virtual series where those stuck at home can watch live interviews and performances with artists from Hampton Roads.
The episodes air every Thursday on the art commission’s website and the American Theatre’s Facebook page.
“The HeART of Hampton is part of Hampton Arts’ mission to advance the arts and enhance the quality of life for all City of Hampton and Coastal Virginia residents and visitors by providing engaging performing and visual arts experiences — now through accessible online content,” according to an online statement from Richard M. Parison Jr. artistic director for Hampton Arts. “In our weekly live episodes of The HeART of Hampton, we’ll catch up with artists and industry insiders from around the world and around the corner.”
The most recent show, Episode 3, featured The Deloreans, an 80s band with eclectic costumes and Queen Esther Marrow, who performed with Ella Fitzgerald and other renowned vocalists.
The next episode of HeART of Hampton is May 14 at 7 p.m.
Heidi Rugg, founder of Barefoot Puppet Theatre, Desiree Roots, actor, singer and dancer as well Jae Sinnett, WHRV’s jazz personality highlight Episode 4 of the live series.
