The Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center is accepting applications for its annual College Art Scholarship program for high school seniors.

Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 and the deadline to apply is June 1.

“The scholarships are awarded to the seniors who best demonstrate an ability in art and who plan to continue their education at the college level with art as a major or minor,” Karen Schwartz, program chair and board member of the WCAC board member, said in a prepared statement. “The scholarship funds are provided through the generosity of local WCAC patrons and distributed as part of WCAC’s support of arts in the community.”

The program is for seniors in Williamsburg, James City County and the Bruton District of York County, and each portfolio must include a completed application, eight to 15 original artwork pieces and two letters of recommendation, according to the news release.

Since the art center is closed due to the coronavirus, applicants must mail their portfolio to Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center, c/o Karen Schwartz, 5 Seasons Court, Williamsburg, VA 23188.

For more information or to apply for a scholarship, visit the WCAC’s website.
