Laid off? This school district is hiring

With some businesses laying off and furloughing workers due to the coronavirus, finding a new job opportunity may be hard to come by.

But here’s a job fair you might want to be aware of.

The Newport News Public Schools is hiring teachers through a job virtual fair next week.

“Have a live chat with recruiters and be scheduled for a virtual interview,” according to the NNPS’s Facebook page.

The school district is hiring for the following positions for the 2020-2021:

  • Elementary teachers
  • Special Education
  • Secondary teachers for English, math, science and social studies
  • Career & technical education
  • World language for Spanish and French
  • English as a Second Language teachers
  • School librarians

Those interested in applying must register for the virtual job fair and candidates can apply for the specific job here.

During the live chat, recruiters will answer questions about the positions including requirements for a teaching license.

The Newport News Public Schools Online Teacher Job Fair is Tuesday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information or to register, visit the event’s website.
