Customers looking to see if they have had the coronavirus (COVID-19) are in luck.

The Williamsburg Drug Company now offers a COVID-19 Antibody Test. Their first day of testing was April 24.

The test cost $200 and results are expected within 48-72 hours. The tests are available at the Jamestown Road location only and patients must call ahead to schedule an appointment.

“We are not profiting off of this,” said Deborah Prosek, a pharmacist at the company, adding they are only charging for the cost of the tests plus labor.

She said the tests are from Vibrant America, a FDA-approved company they have been working with for a long time, but the antibody test is still pending FDA-approval.

On appointment day, the patient must go to the parking lot and call the staff to be temperature tested, Prosek said. If the person has a normal temperature, they can come in for testing which consists of getting blood drawn and paying for the test. Prosek said the patient will get their results within 3-4 days through a secure, web portal.

“This is NOT a test for current/actively ill patients, rather it is a test to determine if you were exposed to the novel COVID-19,” according to the company’s flyer post on their Facebook page. “If you are currently ill and think you have COVID-19 please allow 14 days after your symptoms have resolved before making an appointment for antibody testing.”

Prosek said their next testing day is Friday but it’s already booked and the hours of testing availability will change weekly.

Prosek said the testing is “labor intensive” since the staff have to sterilize the room for each person, conduct temperature tests and the company works with a phlebotomist, a contractor.

“We’re here to help the community,” Prosek added. “We’re just so happy to be able to help people.”

For next week, the Williamsburg Drug Company, 1310 Jamestown Road, antibody tests is available on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Call 757-229-3560 to make an appointment. For more information or updates, visit the company’s Facebook page or call the Jamestown location.
