Williamsburg Live will not happen this June

Williamsburg Live is canceled due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns.

The event was originally scheduled for June 26-27 on the Lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.

“Thank you for your patience and your continued patronage as we work through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Robert W. Cross, Perry artistic director for the Virginia Arts Festival, in a news release Thursday. “While it is heartbreaking that we won’t be able to hold our annual summer music event in Colonial Williamsburg this year, we are grateful and thrilled to announce that Jason Isbell was willing to reschedule his performance and confirm over a year in advance that Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit will headline the Saturday night of Williamsburg Live 2021.”

“I look forward to the time when we can all gather together again and celebrate the arts,” he added.

On Wednesday, Gov. Ralph Northam extended Executive Order 53 for additional two weeks through May 8. The order limits gatherings of more than 10 people and applies to non-essential businesses.

The stay-at-home order remains in effect until June 10.

The Festival will honor those who bought 2020 tickets and mail new tickets with same seats for next year’s event in the fall. See more ticket information here.

The Virginia Arts Festival, which runs the Williamsburg Live event as well as several other events in the area, said in a news release on April 3, the nonprofit organization would cancel, postpone or reschedule all its events through June 14 due to Northam’s previous ban on gatherings of 10 or more people.

The cancellations had ended the week before Williamsburg Live.

Other festivities in the area had already canceled prior to Northam’s executive order, including the 53rd Annual Jazz Festival and the Bayou Boogaloo Music & Cajun Festival, both scheduled for the same weekend as Williamsburg Live, and Norfolk Harborfest, schedule for the first week in June.

The Williamsburg Live 2021 is on June 18-19, 2021.

Those unable to make the performance can fill out the Williamsburg Live 2020 Ticket Buyer Form here or call the Virginia Arts Festival Box Office at 757-282-2822.
