Heads up: There will be no tornado drill Tuesday

The annual tornado drill scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled.

The National Weather Service and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management said the cancellation is because of the governor’s state of emergency declaration in connection with the state’s coronavirus (COVID-19) response.

Officials said the drill, which was supposed to take place at 9:45 a.m. March 17, will be rescheduled – NWS and VDEM “will work with affected stakeholders to re-schedule the 2020 tornado drill at a later point to come.”
