The area is under a winter storm warning, so here’s a list of closings, early outs and cancellations

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Hampton Roads and the Peninsula Thursday effective at 3 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday morning.

With mixed rain and snow and accumulations of 1 to 4 inches on the Peninsula, schools, businesses, and local government offices are keeping a close watch on the weather and some have already announced early closures for Thursday.

WYDaily has compiled a list of schools, businesses, and other cancellations for Williamsburg, James City County, York County, Hampton and Newport News. This is running list to be updated as more information comes in.

Williamsburg

  • All Williamsburg-James City County schools and offices are closed Friday.
  • The Tourism Development Fund grant application open house workshop has been cancelled. The workshop is rescheduled for March 4 at 4 p.m. at Copper Fox Distillery.
  • The Williamsburg Regional Library has cancelled all evening programs for Thursday.
  • The College of William & Mary will close at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The university will not reopen until noon on Friday. The Provost has cancelled all classes and non-academic activities during the hours the university is closed. This includes all meetings and events. Essential personnel should report to work as directed by their supervisors. The Student Recreation Center and Swem Library will follow the university schedule, closing at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and reopening at noon on Friday. Some dining services hours will be modified both Thursday night and Friday due to the closing. Commons, the Tribe Market and Sadler Dining Hall will close at 8 p.m. on Thursday. James City County

  • Williamsburg-James City County Democrats’ meeting and poll worker training is cancelled Thursday. The meeting was rescheduled for Feb. 27.
  • All Williamsburg-James City County schools and offices are closed Friday.

York County

  • Cabin Fever Concert has been postponed to March 12.
  • All York County schools and offices are closed Friday. All after-school activities and practices are also canceled for Friday. Administrators are monitoring the weather in order to make a decision for Grafton middle and high Saturday school.
  • All York County offices closing at 4 p.m. Thursday.
  • The York County Courthouse is closing at 4 p.m. Thursday

Newport News

Hampton

  • All Hampton City schools are closed Friday.
  • Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department master plan meeting has been canceled for Thursday evening and rescheduled for March 31.
  • The Hampton Police Division has canceled Thursday’s Minister’s Police Academy meeting.
  • Hampton Clean City Commission’s Kearney Park community cleanup event has been rescheduled for Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.
  • Thomas Nelson Community College will close at 3 p.m. Thursday — all activities at all locations canceled.
  • City community centers and libraries are closing at 6 p.m. Thursday.
  • Joint Base Langley-Eustis has implemented two-hour delayed reporting and “liberal leave policy” for Friday unless mission essential.
