The Virginia Fire Chiefs Foundation is having a 5k run/walk and 1-mile fundraising event in March to raise money for scholarships, professional development programs and to emphasize the importance of physical fitness for firefighters.
And, the event will be in Williamsburg.
“Physical fitness is obviously extremely important that firefighters have to do on a daily basis,” said Chris Eudaily, president and CEO of the foundation and executive director of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association. “We hope we’re going to have a good turnout.”
Registration for the 5k costs $30 but will go up to $35 after Feb. 24 and $40 the day of the race. Registration for the Family Fun Run is free for all participants. You can register online for either event here.
The foundation supports the VFCA and programs across the state, including Virginia Fire Officer Academy, the Virginia Chief Officer Academy and the VFCF Scholarship Program, according to the foundation’s news release.
The race will start at Bruton Parish Church, then passes the Historic Capital and Governor’s Palace, loops through the city’s municipal buildings and finishes on Duke of Gloucester Street, according to the event page.
The first Virginia Fire Chiefs Foundation 5k run/walk and 1-mile family fun run is on March 14 at 7:30 a.m. Registration starts at 6:45 a.m.
