What’s known as one of the largest and most anticipated quilt festivals on the eastern seaboard is heading back to Hampton.
The Hampton Roads Convention Center is hosting the 31st annual Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival on Feb. 27 to March 1 when quilt, art, or even fashion enthusiast can explore vendors, competitions, and workshops taught by “the best teachers in the industry,” according to a recent news release.
More than 150 vendors are expected to attend, offering machines, fabrics, embroidery, and “everything the quilter textile artist, and home sewer could want.”
Family-owned promotions company, Mancuso Show Management, puts on the annual festival every year in Hampton as well as in South Carolina, New Jersey, and even an international quilt festival in California.
Last year, Gail Stepanek and Jan Hutchison won “Best of Show” in the Mid-Atlantic’s Pride & Joy Quilt Competition with their piece, “Spangled,” according to the website.
This year’s theme is “Stitch Your Art Out” which requires competitors to translate the creativity and inspiration within them into a quilt.
Competitors can enter their work into one of the four categories for consideration: Traditional, Innovative, Wall Quilt, and Modern (mid-20th century design).
“Also, be sure to take part by casting your votes for ‘Viewer’s Choice’ in the quilt and wearable art competitions. The announcements of these prestigious awards are eagerly anticipated by competition entrants and show-goers at the end of the festival,” according to the news release.
Admission to the 31st annual Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival is $15 and includes readmission throughout the duration of the event. Tickets for Sunday only are $13. Children younger than 16 are free.
Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more by calling, 214-862-5828.
