Fire destroys home in James City County

The James City County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that destroyed a home Thursday afternoon.

Fire officials said crews from James City Bruton Volunteer and James City County fire departments were sent to the home in the 6100 block of Centerville Road at around 2:25 p.m.

There, firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Officials said the home “is expected to be a total loss.”

York County Fire and Life Safety and the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station assisted their James City County counterparts.
