Here’s a deal where you can test your shooting, dribbling and rebounding skills

If you think you got game, then you might want to plan on participating in this event.

James City County is having its “Jr. NBA Skills Challenge” Jr. on Jan. 18.

It will be from 10 a.m. – noon at the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road. Organizers said the free challenge is designed for ages 6-13.

Officials said the basketball skills competition “is a fun way to test your shooting, dribbling and rebounding skills.”

Each participant has one-minute to score as many points as possible. The top three winners from each division (Boys13U, Girls 13U, Boys 11U and Girls 11U) will advance to the regional competition, which takes place from Feb.16 – April 26.

The regional champions will earn an all-expense paid trip to the National Skills Challenge Competition in New York City June 23-26, according to a news release from James City County.

Space is limited; preregistration is highly recommended.

Boys and girls age 11 & younger (born on or after Sept. 1, 2008): 10 a.m.; registration code is #502210-A.
Boys and girls ages 12-13, (born between Sept. 1, 2006 – Aug. 31, 2008): 11 a.m.; registration code is #502210-B.

*Aging date for each participant is their age on Aug. 31, 2020, not their current age, officials said.
