There’s a new place in Williamsburg to buy all things preppy and more.
Three Cabanas recently hosted its grand opening event at 411 West Duke of Gloucester St. The location was previously home to Ocean Palms, which sold Lilly Pulitzer attire.
Lilly Pulitzer is a resort clothing brand based in Florida.
The location will still sell Lilly Pulitzer as a “Lilly Pulitzer Premier Specialty Store,” said owner Kelly Terracina, but it will also house more brands.
“It’s 80 percent Lilly, but we wanted to offer a few other brands to complement Lilly,” she said. “It’s basically a lifestyle, resort type of store.”
In addition to Lilly Pulitzer, the store now offers items from brands such as Johnny Was and Jack Rogers.
Store manager Lauren Francis said they noticed people were sometimes put off by the Lilly Pulitzer prints so they wanted to provide brands and styles that would cater to everyone as well as present new and welcoming styles from Lilly.
“Lilly has really upped their game,” Terracina said. “It’s no longer just the prints, there’s a lot of emphasis on simple and daily wear items.”
Terracina is also the owner of Three Sisters Boutique just a few blocks away from the new store. She said the name for the original boutique came from her three daughters who all had varying styles. Now, Three Cabanas is named to reflect her daughters growing older and moving out on their own.
Francis said while the original boutique reflects a more bohemian vibe, the new store cater to a preppy, feminine style.
The store was bought and opened in early November, but it was closed for a week for renovations before the grand opening last Saturday.
The inside has a few changes, including a wallpaper focal point, new gold mirrors, a chandelier and purple dressing room curtains.
As the store moves forward in its operations, Terracina said she’s excited to see how things will continue to grow.
“We would like to retail the Lilly Pulitzer clientele and attract non-Lilly lovers,” she said. “We want to pull them around to where Lilly is right now and introduce them to more brands.”
