The Lighted Boat Parade in Hampton is back. Here’s how you can participate without owning a boat

A holiday light display of sailboats, powerboats, and even Santa are back Dec. 13 for the 31st annual Lighted Boat Parade at the Downtown Waterfront in Hampton.

Known as one of the most anticipated events in the Hampton Holly Days — Holiday Series Events, the show can be seen from anywhere along the Hampton River.

More than 20 boats are expected to participate, even without a boat, residents or enthusiasts can sign up to hang out with Santa on one of the vessels for free.

“Call and make reservations on the ‘Miss Hampton II’ — there is no cost but you must contribute a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Healthy Families Partnership,” officials said on the city’s website. 

Musical guests “Hard Times & The Colonial Singers of Williamsburg” is scheduled to provide live entertainment at 710 Settlers Landing Road starting at 6 p.m. with the boats setting sail at 7 p.m.

The application for captains who want to register their decorated vessel for display in the parade is free and open until 5 p.m. on Dec. 6. — find the registration form here.
