He loves his job at The Port of Virginia and was even recommending his son, Theodoric Hunter Jr., apply there to one day work alongside him.
So when Hunter Jr. learned his father, Theodoric Hunter Sr., didn’t show up for work on Aug. 25, he said he knew something had to be wrong.
“I don’t see him leaving without letting me know and he wouldn’t just up and leave his job without having a backup job or other income…he would’ve told me,” he said.
Since his father’s disappearance, Hunter Jr. said he and his family have been reaching out to anyone his father may have been in contact with but to no avail — as of Nov. 21, the 49-year-old Hunter Sr. from the 400 block of Hollywood Avenue in Hampton is still missing.
Hunter Jr. said his father’s wife is the last person reported to have seen Hunter Sr. on Aug. 24 when he stormed out of their home during an argument and drove away in his 2019 black Nissan Altima that night.
The last time Hunter Jr. said he saw his father was about a week before he disappeared and he took this photo of Hunter Sr. holding his grandson.
In a September news release, officials at the Hampton Police Division released Hunter Sr.’s Virginia license plate No. — UYY-5688 — and said “at this time, all efforts to locate or contact Mr. Hunter have been unsuccessful.”
Recently contacted, Hampton Police spokesman Reggie Williams said the investigative team “is still taking active efforts to seek out leads” but couldn’t provide any further comment on an active investigation.
The last tip Hunter Jr. said he received from investigators was that they possibly spotted his father’s vehicle traveling eastbound through the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel on Aug. 26, or the Monday after he went missing.
“Nothing else came out of that,” he said.
Now the family is hoping the community will assist in the search.
Anyone with information that could assist police in the investigation of Hunter Sr.’s whereabouts should contact the Hampton Police Division at 757–727–6111 or 888-LOCK-U-UP.
