Sky Zone, the indoor trampoline park with multiple locations worldwide, is setting up shop in Hampton with a tentative opening date at the end of December.

“So it’s a little in flux because of the construction schedule,” said Roger Duncan, one of the co-owners.

“We really want to be open in December,” he added. “I own other Sky Zones and January tends to be a big month.”

Duncan said people need a place to take their kids so they can “bounce off the walls.”

“It would be a lot better if they bounced off of ours,” Duncan said.

Duncan owns the Sky Zone in Baltimore, Maryland and said this location in Hampton will have the same features and just be a newer model than the Baltimore location.

Featured attractions at Sky Zone include a ninja warrior course with varying difficulties, Wipeout, a contraption that sits on a trampoline where kids have to avoid the swinging arms, trampoline dodgeball, jousting, a zip line and a big, foam pit.

Other activities include Warp Wall with a curved vertical wall similar to parkour, Sky Slam, where kids can dunk basketballs and a Blacklight Party on the weekends.

At the Blacklight Parities, kids wear “glow” shirts and the attractions are illuminated under the blacklight. There are lasers and even a DJ.

“It just turns it into a kid-friendly club,” Duncan said.

He plans to offer toddler only events for children 5 years old and younger, overnight lock-in parties for kids ages 11 to 17 and of course, birthday parties.

While there is a lot of people living in Hampton Roads, particularly in Hampton, Duncan said he feels there are fairly limited indoor activities for kids, one of the reasons he chose Hampton for his next Sky Zone venture.

“Hampton is a great area,” Duncan said. “We think we’re bringing something unique to the area.”

Sky Zone Hampton, 2055 Executive Drive, is currently hiring 100 to 120 people to fill positions including greeters, cashiers, party hosts, court monitors and an operations manager, Duncan said.

The open interviews for Sky Zone positions is at a conference room located off 4410 E. Claiborne Square, Suite 210 on Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Applicants must be responsible, trustworthy, on time and have an outgoing personality. For more information, visit the Sky Zone website or the Sky Zone Hampton Facebook page.

The target opening date is Dec. 27 or 30.
