Angela Reason beats incumbent for circuit court clerk seat in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS — Angela Reason, a small business owner, was elected to the circuit court clerk seat in a close victory, according to unofficial results Tuesday night.

Reason topped challenger Gary Anderson, the incumbent Republican candidate who previously served as chief deputy before being elected to the circuit court position in 2015.

Reason is a Navy contractor and co-owner of DNA Logistics, Inc., a family owned freight carrier company in Newport News.

Here’s the Newport News Clerk of Court unofficial results from the 46 precincts:

  • Angela F. Reason, Democrat: 24,152 votes — 61.81 percent
  • Gary S. Anderson, Republican (Incumbent): 14,592 votes — 37.34 percent
  • Write-in: 330 votes — 0.84 percent
