VIRGINIA BEACH — For the last 30 years, Hunt Club Farm has brought out all the stops during what they called their favorite time of year.
Starting the end of September and running through Halloween night the farm celebrates the fall season with their Harvest Fair by day, and by night, they become Haunted Hunt Club Farm with spooky hayrides, “Field of Screams,” and “Village of the Dead.”
As part of the celebrations the farm hosts a “community weekend” annually, but this year, the weekend of Oct. 12 and 13 is dedicated to #VBSTRONG with a portion of Harvest Fair ticket sales going to the Virginia Beach Tragedy Fund.
Located about three miles east of the municipal center, the shooting on May 31 hit close to home for those at Hunt Club Farm, said Conrad Brinkman, the farm’s marketing director.
The United Way of South Hampton Roads is also setting up a booth at the farm during community weekend to accept donations and give out #VBSTRONG t-shirts and stickers.
Brinkman said during the “community weekend” events, the focus is on the healing community and officials at the farm hope residents not only come out to show their support for tragedy victims but also to enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere.
Harvest Fair admission is $13 for kids and $9 for adults and includes a hayride, access to the petting farm, and unlimited jumps on up to six bounce house inflatables.
A staged “monster fire truck” and ambulance will also be available to tour during “community weekend,” and Brinkman said the Red Cross will also be there giving Haunted Hunt Club Farm tickets, or one adult and one child Harvest Fair ticket to those who donate blood.
Hunt Club Farm’s Halloween Festival also features corn mazes, U-Pick pumpkins, and pony rides and has received TripAdvisor’s “2019 Hall of Fame Certificate of Excellence.”
The Harvest Fair is every day until Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and becomes “haunted” from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 11:30 on weekends — click here for more information.
