A new business — but one tracing hundreds of years back in history — has opened in Williamsburg.
Green Cauldron Apothecary is now open at 7191 Richmond Road, Suite B in Norge, selling salves, balms, herbs and other custom-designed homeopathic remedies.
Apothecary owner Amanda Bates opened the business on-schedule Tuesday, according to a post on the Green Cauldron Apothecary’s Facebook page.
“It’s here, opening day is here! [I]t’s been so exciting seeing you all already this morning!” the post read.
The business will be getting new items on the shelves throughout its first week, including items such as Green Cauldron Burn Balm for burns, cuts and hangnails, according to the post.
In August, Bates told WYDaily her upbringing in Maine around her mother and grandmother made her accustomed to seeing jars of herbs and roots around the kitchen. She also grew up using homeopathic remedies.
As an adult, Williamsburg resident and mother, Bates has put that knowledge to good use. She made products for her friends and family before deciding to open Green Cauldron.
Part of the apothecary’s business involves making custom products for customers who desire a particular combination of herbs or oils in a certain type of product.
And, if a customer asks for something Bates doesn’t know how to do, she has books on hand to lend expert opinions.
