This traditional Chinese dance troupe is coming to the Peninsula

The Student Art Troupe from the Chendu Textile College in China will perform traditional Chinese dances and other cultural staples at various venues on the Peninsula.

The troupe comprised of five adults and eight students will also use traditional clothing, musical instruments and song in their performances.

The Sister Cities of Newport News is hosting the troupe and all the performances are free and open to the public.

According to the nonprofit’s website, the Textile College is known for supporting Sichuan folk culture and other ethnic groups.

In addition, the event also features a runway show with clothing from the Han, Yi and Zang ethnic groups and mask changing and long sleeve dance from Sishuan Opera.
