The Norge Farm Fresh will be closing its doors next month.
Assistant Manager Daniel Holcomb confirmed Thursday the store at 115 Norge Lane would close Oct. 19 “at the soonest.”
Holcomb did not immediately provide details about the closure.
The Norge Farm Fresh came under new ownership in July 2018 after Farm Fresh locations across Virginia were sold or closed that spring. The new owner was Kumar Bhavanasi, president and CEO of New Jersey-based IT service provider First Tek Inc.
He also bought a Farm Fresh at 928 Diamond Springs Road in Virginia Beach.
One month after the purchase, regional manager John Black said the new owner planned to keep the Farm Fresh as a “traditional grocery store” and “your neighborhood supermarket.”
SuperValu offloaded and sold 21 of its 38 Farm Fresh stores in Virginia in March 2018, and was searching for buyers for the remaining 17.
Two stores in Greater Williamsburg were sold to rival grocers: Harris Teeter bought the Farm Fresh at 4511 John Tyler Highway, and Kroger bought the store at 6500 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown.
