VIRGINIA BEACH — Biplanes and Brews Airshow is back for its second year at the Military Aviation Museum here.
Historic biplanes will soar overhead while live vintage musical performances play, according to event organizers.
The event will be on Oct. 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“What we’ve done is take our flying collection of World War I aircraft and paired it with local beer tastings. It’s been a great success” said Jarod Hoogland, museum director at the Military Aviation Museum.
Two flying segments are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The museum is also offering rides in its two open cockpit biplanes.
“It’s not your typical beer fest where you have 300 beers. But you have great local brews” Hoogland said.
Along with the live music there will also be outdoor games such as corn hole and badminton – “everything you’d expect to enjoy on a nice sunny day.”
“We tried to focus on local Virginia beers, so we got some of your favorites,” Hoogland said.
Pleasure House brewed a special beer for the airshow last year and they’re bringing it back again this year.
A selection of 20 craft beers will be on tap from the following Virginia breweries:
- Smartmouth Brewing
- Parkway Brewing Company
- Reason Beer
- Stone Brewing
- New Realm Brewing
- Pleasure House Brewing
- Reaver Beach Brewing Co.
- Potter’s Craft Cider
You can buy your tickets for the event here.
Tickets are also available at the Military Aviation Museum or you can buy them via phone at 757-721-7767. Hoogland suggests attendees buy their tickets in advance to avoid the $5 fee at the door.
