A staple restaurant in Lightfoot for the last several years had closed.

A sign posted on the door Rick’s Grill says the restaurant closed on Sunday, Aug. 18 because the owner, Rick, is retiring.

“We thank you all for supporting us,” it reads.

The business, at 6380F Richmond Road, has been bought by Ernesto Martinez, who planned to open the restaurant within “a couple of weeks” of the closure, according to the sign.

“We hope that you will show him the same support,” it said.

Auditor Wendy Kurnas with the York County Commissioner of the Revenue Office said the new occupant of Rick’s Grill is Pizzeria Association Inc. trading as Larry’s Italian Restaurant.

A York County business license has been issued for the new business with an established date of Sept. 1.

On Monday, a work van was parked in front of the restaurant and work was visibly underway inside.
