Williamsburg Winery is opening a wine tasting room in Hilltop’s La Promenade Distinctive Shops in Virginia Beach.

A date has not been announced yet but it should be in the near future.

“It just made sense” to open a location here in Virginia Beach, sasid Patrick Duffeler II, president and CEO of Williamsburg Winery.

Duffeler said the tasting room’s construction is “somewhere between 98 and 99.5 percent done.”

The winery’s remote wine tasting in Colonial Williamsburg has now been open for a couple of years and has been very successful, Duffeler said, adding the winery “felt strongly that Virginia Beach was a large city that has a good number of our wine club members and we’ve been selling a fair amount of wine” in our area.

Before the Williamsburg location, the only tasting room for Williamsburg Winery was at its Wessex Hundred vineyard, near the James River.

The hours of operation will be during the afternoon and early evening where patrons can enjoy Williamsburg Winery’s wines along with its sparkling wines and ciders. In addition to wine, the tasting room’s menu will be offering a series of small bites, including locally sourced cheeses.

Duffeler said he anticipates there will be a number of programs brought to the Virginia Beach location such as the wine education program that they also host at the Williamsburg location, which “sells out almost every time.”

Along with the programs, there will also be wine club events will also at the Virginia Beach location.

The winery is also looking to work with their wine colleagues in the industry to do comparative wine tastings and “general fun things that are associated with good food and wine,” Duffeler said.
