Drivers should avoid these areas in James City County on these days

Drivers hitting the road in James City County next weekend might want to take note as road delays are expected during the Patriot’s Triathlon events.

On Sept. 7-8, roads throughout county will be temporarily closed as several hundred athletes participate in three triathlon events of different distances.

The following roads will encounter delays between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 7:

  • Jamestown Road near the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry
  • Greensprings Road
  • 4H Club Road
  • John Tyler Highway
  • The intersection of John Tyler Highway and Greensprings Road
  • The intersection of Monticello Avenue and John Tyler Highway

The following roads will encounter delays from 7 a.m. to noon on Sept. 8:

  • John Tyler Highway and Greensprings Road
  • John Tyler Highway and Monticello Avenue

Police will be directing traffic during those times to help prevent delays.

Drivers should proceed with caution through those areas as bicyclists will be traveling on the roads throughout the day, even when traffic is moving steadily.
