Join the community in song to celebrate unity and musical talent at this event

NORFOLK — The Virginia Symphony Orchestra is bringing its annual celebration of peace, inclusion and unity in the form of song and musical instruments to the Scope Arena.

The event will be on Sept. 8 at 4:30 p.m.

People of all ages, faiths and backgrounds are invited to come and embrace the community’s cultural richness and diversity at this free event, officials wrote in the event description.

Music will be available for any instrument and voice at any level for the celebration in music, dance and spoken word, officials said.

Residents are invited to either bring their voices and instruments or just to come as they are to enjoy the musical talents of their neighbors.

This event is free and open to the public.

After registering, music will be available to download through an email link.

Rehearsals are optional and will be on Aug. 27 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at The Murray Center (455 East Brambleton Ave.) as well as another short optional rehearsal at 3:30 p.m. the day of the event.

Free parking will be available at the Brambleton Lot and doors open at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 but facilitators of the event encourage arriving no later than 4 p.m.
