VIRGINIA BEACH — The Richmond Ballet is in search of dancers in Hampton Roads for student roles in the company’s seventh consecutive rendition of The Nutcracker.
Auditions for the roles will be on Aug. 25 and Sept. 8 at Old Donation School.
The performance will take place at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk from Dec. 6-8 with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
Dance students across Hampton Roads are invited to audition to be cast for the student roles — last year’s production featured students from more than 30 local dance studios, according to the Richmond Ballet.
The auditions on Aug. 25 and Sept. 8 will be at at Old Donation School — part of the Richmond Ballet’s continued partnership with the state-of-the-art gifted school.
Students who are cast will participate in weekly rehearsals at Old Donation School on Sundays, Oct. 6 through Dec. 1.
The students cast will have the unique opportunity to perform alongside the company’s professional dancers and musicians from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, officials said.
