A 47-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a death investigation Wednesday afternoon.

John Charles Hill, 47, is accused of stabbing Lawrence John Hill, 61, to death.

The two are brothers who shared a home in the 400 block of Dare Road, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

John Charles Hill is being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on a second-degree murder charge. His mugshot was not yet available through the jail inmate tracking system at 9:30 a.m. Thursday — he was booked Wednesday night.

Deputies responded at the home just before 3 p.m. Wednesday after dispatchers received a call reporting a dead man inside.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shelley Ward said a family member walked into the house and found Lawrence John Hill. Authorities said John Charles Hill was immediately detained for questioning.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 888-Lock-U-UP or the Facebook Tip Line at 757-890-4999. Refer to case number 1902651.
